The Turtle Island is 21 square kilometer and with 800 inhabitants. The island is the most famous dive destination in the country. There are many dive courses done, with many dive schools the prices have droped and therefore became a paradise for backpackers with a smaller budget. Unfortunatly there are not much else to do, even though the last years other tourists have starting to arriving.

How to get around?
Song Taew (Pickup with seats in the back), rental motorbikes or just walking around works.
Main Pier:
Sairee Beach: The largest beach located on the west coast nothe of the main pier.
Chalok Baan Kao:
The second largest beach on the island located on the south side toward Koh Phangan and Koh Samui.
Au Leuk: A small beach located on the south east side with a few resorts and restaurants. Often visited by different boats on daytours for snorkeling etc.
Mango Bay:
Also a small beach located on the north side with a few bungalows and a restaurant. A paradise for snorkeling and often visited by different boats.
To do?
A day trip to Koh Nangyan, the island located next to Koh Tao. A nice place for snorkeling, swimming and just laying around in the sun.
How to get to Koh Tao?
Bus: There are many different bus companies from all places that will take you to Koh Tao.
Flight: You can fly to Koh Samui with Bangkok Air or Thai Air. You can also fly to Surrathani with different compnies like Air Asia and Thai Air.
Train: The train goes to Chumphon where you need to take a boat.
Boat: There are boats from Chumphon, Surrathani, Koh Phangan or Koh Samui to Koh Tao. |
